Brigadeiros
Brigadeiros (breegadarros) are Brazillian sweets, similar to truffles. They are easy to make and children and adults alike love them.
2 small cans of sweetened condensed milk
4 Tbsp bitter chocolate, grated
2 Tbsp of butter, plus butter to coat a plate/platter
½ cup milk
¼ tsp vanilla
Several jars of little chocolate bits/granules, the kind that you use to decorate cookies
2 Tbsp or more butter as needed to coat a plate or platter (see below)
Place the sweetened condensed milk, the bitter chocolate, butter, and the milk in a small saucepan and heat over a low fire while constantly mixing the ingredients with a wooden spoon. When the mixture begins to fall from the sides of the pan, remove from the fire. Add the vanilla. Mix.
Place the mixture in a plate/platter coated with butter. Form small balls of the chocolate mixture with you hands and pass then in the chocolate granules. Place in paper/aluminum candy forms.
